The University web site is broken into our five constituencies: Alumni & Friends, Faculty & Staff, Students, Parents & Visitors and Prospective Students. A web page has been created for each with links to the primary areas of interest for that group.
The Exchange link provides a quick access to the web mail system available to our campus community.
SamWeb is our Campus-Wide Information System. This section of our web site is for the Sam Houston State University students' administrative functions, such as registration, financial aid info, and grades. Prospective students may also use this section to check on their admission status, and upon acceptance to the university, new students may request their computer usernames.
The University Info link provides a general description of what Sam Houston State University is: the mission, traditions, colleges, demographics and other general information.
The Departments link gives you a quick reference all the departments sorted alphabetically. We also link there to our system office and our organizational chart.
The Internet portal is designed to provide a quick access point with specific locations of interest to our university members.
The Intranet is for the internal use of the university community. This provides the policies and procedures and forms that are required for on-campus administrative functions. The Google Search permits a search through the www.shsu.edu domain if Web is selected, and if people are selected, it goes directly to our directory information for that person.
The Library provides an online catalogue function and access to many databases.
The University Facts link provides demographic, tradition, general facts, and directional information for the campus.
The Ways of Giving allows a quick method of allowing donors to connect with SHSU and designate their gifts according to their desires.
Today@Sam is published by the Public Relations office of the university and provides calendars, news releases, and notices. The Houstonian Online is the campus student newspaper. Bulletin Board is our open forum for discussions on roommates, politics, book exchanges, and other topics of interest to all our campus constitutencies.
The University Fast Links drop-down menu list provides direct links to the most commonly-requested items or departments on our web site. Our Highlights section includes current events or announcements. Our Academic section highlights the prominent areas in that division.
The structure of the university web provides for the www.shsu.edu followed by /~ and usernames for individual pages. University departments and organizations generally follow that same syntax. Departments usually have a three-letter prefix indicating the department (such as eng for English) followed by the underscore www. For example, English's web page address is www.shsu.edu/~eng_www/
If you need assistance locating a page, send e-mail to helpdesk@shsu.edu.
