Purpose
- Recommend administrative or academic goals, programs, policies,
purchase considerations, plans or other action that will foster
the integration and development of technology to assist all university
components.
- Assist in the development of the "Information Resource Strategic
Plan and Biennial Operating Plan."
- Assist in determining, for any university project/grant/contract
with an information resource content, that the technology assumptions
are valid and reliable, that the financial assumptions concerning
the technology are valid and reliable and that the technology
to be employed is consistent with the SHSU's Information Resource
Strategic Plan.
- Make an annual review of funding levels used to support the
Information Resource Strategic Plan.
- Evaluate annually the current policies for the allocation and
use of information resources.
Appointments. The committee will consist of seventeen individuals,
including the chair and the ex officio personnel. The following
members serve indefinite terms and are determined by position/title:
five academic deans, the Associate Vice President for Information
Resources, the Director of the Newton Gresham Library, the Director
of Academic Instructional Technology and Distance Learning, and
the Associate Vice President for Research and Sponsored Programs;
the Director of Internal Audit is an ex officio member. Staff members
serve three-year terms expiring at the end of the fiscal year: 2
nominations from the Vice President for Student Services; 2 nominations
from the Vice President for Finance and Operations; 2 nominations
from the Vice President for Enrollment Management. Student member,
who is President of the Student Government Association, serves by
virtue of position with the term expiring May 31. The President
makes all appointments, including the chair who serves an indefinite
term.
